One of Eure-et-Loir's Best-Kept Secrets
The valley encompassing the neighbouring villages of Gilles and Guainville is affectionately known as the Suisse de l'Eure-et-Loir (the Switzerland of Eure-et-Loir), celebrated for the gently rolling hills, wooded valleys, crystal-clear streams and unspoilt countryside.
It is a landscape that invites wandering, lingering and breathing a little more deeply.
Nature at Your Doorstep
Set within almost four hectares of private grounds, Le Moulin is surrounded by peaceful water meadows scattered with wildflowers, an abundant orchard, a tranquil river, trickling streams, and pockets of ancient woodland abundant with wildlife. There is space to explore, play, wander and simply be.
Wander barefoot through the grass, pause beside the river with a morning coffee, watch dragonflies dance across the water, or simply listen to the birds overhead. Keep an eye out for deer, hares, frogs and birdlife, or spend time with our resident animals.
For those looking for a little more activity, there is tennis, pétanque, the seasonal 25-metre pool, woodland adventures and plenty of space to play. As evening falls, gather around the barbecue or fire pit and watch the sun slip behind the trees.
At Le Moulin, nature is very much part of the experience. Every season brings its own quiet magic, and every stay offers the chance to slow down, reconnect and feel gently renewed.
A Place Steeped in History
The earliest known record of Le Moulin dates back to 1230, when the site was described as a medieval manor before later being converted into one of seven watermills that line this peaceful valley. The surrounding land itself has a much longer history, having been granted to the Benedictine Abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Prés around 700 AD.
For centuries, the mill harnessed the gentle flow of the river, becoming an integral part of life in the valley until it finally ceased operation in the 1940s. Today, a section of the original mill wheel still stands on the lawn—a quiet reminder of the generations who lived, worked and gathered here before us.
Though its purpose has evolved over the centuries, its spirit endures. Today, we feel privileged to be its custodians, preserving its rich heritage while welcoming a new generation of families, friends and travellers to write the next chapter in its story.

Le Fournil
At the heart of the property is the main guest house featuring three en suite bedrooms, sleeping up to six guests. generous well equipped eat in kitchen with generous terrace and cosy sitting room. Making this an ideal choice for couples travelling together or a family group, it offers comfort, privacy and space to gather.
Le Petit Fournil
A private studio tucked away, thoughtfully created with a double bedroom and ensuite bathroom, kitchen, dining area and small terrace. Ideal for a solo escape, couple or couple with a young child.

Today, Le Moulin continues its story—not as a working mill, but as a place for gathering, celebration, creativity and quiet restoration.
Bought back to life, it pairs the soul of an old building with the ease of modern living — warm natural materials and generous proportions.
Spanning more than 300m² across three floors, Le Moulin sleeps up to nine guests in four bedrooms and three bathrooms. Three terraces offer ever-changing perspectives of the surrounding landscape, while every detail has been carefully considered—from the Lacanche range in the kitchen to the steam shower in the master suite. Whether gathering with family, celebrating a special occasion or escaping the pace of everyday life, the house invites you to settle in and stay awhile.
Wake to birdsong, draw the curtains to views across the river, gather around the kitchen table for long breakfasts, and end the day watching the last light settle over the valley from one of the terraces.
Ground floor
At the heart of the house, the spacious kitchen centres around an open fireplace and a Lacanche range, while a butler's pantry sits discreetly behind for quieter preparation. A snug/library offers a smaller retreat for reading and playing boardgames, whilst a boot room and entrance hall, utility room, and guest WC complete the floor.
First Floor
La Suite du Meunier
Your own secluded space offering a spacious dressing room and a bathroom with a freestanding bath and steam shower opening onto its own private poolside terrace — a quiet place to take a tea and set the tone for the day ahead. A large adjoining sitting room and a separate powder room complete this private floor of the house.
The Second Floor
La Chambre du Bassin
This double room looks out over the woods and swimming pool with its own en-suite shower room and WC — a self-contained space well suited to a couple travelling with the wider group.
La Chambre du Jardin
Also on the second floor, a dedicated bunk room sleeps three — ideal for children or younger guests, and full of cosy character.
La Chambre du Verger
Completing the second floor and with exceptional views over the lawn, river and orchard beyond, this flexible twin or double room shares a family bathroom with La Chambre du Jardin, making it equally suited to friends, siblings or couples..
Le Fournil
The Recently refurbished coach house at the heart of the property comprising of three beautifully appointed bedrooms — a twin/double and two doubles, each with its own en-suite bathroom — make this an ideal choice for couples travelling together or a family group.
La Chambre du Levain — Tucked away from the rest of the house, the master suite looks out over the grounds and courtyard — a private, settled corner of Le Fournil. It's served by its own in room bath and shower, with a separate WC.
La Chambre des Prés— Set at the centre of the house, this room looks out over the terrace and lawn, and has its own distinct shower room
La Chambre de la Rivière — Overlooking the entrance to the property, with views across to Le Petit Fournil and the grounds beyond, this room has a charming shower room of its own
At the heart of the house, a large, well-equipped eat-in kitchen leads out onto a generous terrace with views over the grounds and woods, while the cosy sitting room is lined by a stream and views over the Moulin — from almost every aspect the sound of birdsong and trickling water can be heard.
Le Petit Fournil
Tucked away at the heart of the garden, Le Petit Fournil is a private studio thoughtfully created for those wanting a quieter corner of the property to call their own. A double bedroom with en-suite bathroom sits alongside a kitchen and dining area, with a small terrace to step out onto — everything you could need.
It's the kind of place to squirrel yourself away — a retreat for writing, creating, or simply slowing down — and is ideally suited to a single traveller, a couple, or a couple with one young child.
